Dr. Welch is a nationally prominent clinical psychologist and attorney. He is the recent author of State of Confusion: Political Manipulation and the Assault on the American Mind, which has been termed by one independent reviewer as a “Rosetta Stone for understanding American politics.”
A past president of the Harvard Debate Council and successful national debater, Dr. Welch received a B.A in government from Harvard College, a J.D from Harvard Law School and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of North Carolina. He is also a research associate graduate of the Washington Psychoanalytic Institute. Dr. Welch lived in Washington D.C. for over seventeen years and served as a chief spokesperson for organized psychology at the American Psychological Association.
He is a sought after public speaker and has appeared on all major networks debating such prominent personalities as Jerry Falwell and Pat Buchanan on social and psychological issues. He has testified before Congress on many occasions and given hundreds of speeches to diverse professional audiences. He has received numerous professional awards including the APA Presidential Citation for “seminal contributions to professional psychology.”
